As part of Midsomer Norton’s Cultural Programme, the Cultural Consortium is co-ordinating the town’s Heritage Open Days for September 2022. We are now inviting venues and community groups to express their interest in getting involved!
What is Heritage Open Days?
Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture. It’s all about encouraging people to visit interesting historic buildings, cultural venues and natural spaces that they might not have visited before – including shops, squares, churches, cemeteries, private homes, ruins, civic buildings, parks, performance venues, and more.
Every year, thousands of organiser across the country get involved. This year, you could be one of them!
When is Heritage Open Days?
The festival runs 9-18 September 2022. Your event can occur at any time over this period. It could take place over just one hour, a weekend, or the full ten days!
What kind of event can I run?
Importantly, your venue doesn’t have to a grand palace or museum. Heritage Open Days especially welcomes small, quirky and little-known spaces to take part.
Your event could be something brand new or part of your existing annual calendar, in person or online, working alone or in collaboration with another group, bookable or drop-in.
From tours and talks to workshops and walks – anything goes. It just needs to be free to attend.
The theme for 2022 is “Astounding Inventions” but it’s only for inspiration – you’re not bound to it.
How do I sign up?
Register your event by 1 August. If you sign up in plenty of time you can order free physical marketing material including bunting, lanyards, open signs and stickers.
Where can I get more information?
Please refer to the Heritage Open Days website for sign-up information and inspiration from previous festivals.
We will also be organising a drop-in information session, which will be advertised soon.
